Binaural Beats: Brainwave Entrainment for Meditation
What Are Binaural Beats?
Binaural beats are an auditory phenomenon that occurs when two slightly different frequencies are played to each ear. The brain perceives a third frequency—the mathematical difference between the two—and naturally synchronizes to it.
How Binaural Beats Work
When the left ear receives 200 Hz and the right ear receives 210 Hz, the brain perceives a 10 Hz binaural beat. This process, called "frequency following response," causes brainwaves to entrain to the perceived frequency.
Brainwave States
- Delta (0.5-4 Hz): Deep sleep, healing, and regeneration
- Theta (4-8 Hz): Deep meditation, creativity, and REM sleep
- Alpha (8-12 Hz): Relaxation, calm alertness, and light meditation
- Beta (12-30 Hz): Active thinking, focus, and problem-solving
- Gamma (30-100 Hz): Peak awareness, insight, and cognitive processing
Benefits of Binaural Beats
- Deeper meditation states achieved more quickly
- Improved sleep quality with delta frequencies
- Enhanced focus and concentration with beta frequencies
- Reduced anxiety with alpha frequencies
- Increased creativity with theta frequencies
How to Use Binaural Beats
Use stereo headphones (required for the effect to work). Start with 15-30 minute sessions. Choose the frequency range that matches your goal. Combine with meditation for enhanced results.
Solfeggio Frequencies
